The Wishbar Story
After three deaths in the family last year, I had three very different experiences that led me to conclude that ‘paying your respects’ is a broken model. After each death, I simply did not know what to do—and there was no good place to get advice.

I started Wishbar with an idea to make sympathy simple...
Thinking back to my wedding, my husband and I used an online service that let our guests fund our honeymoon with experiences we really wanted. We still talk about one of our favorites, a picnic in Napa Valley with a box of fried chicken and sparkling wine. People want to be guided when they give, and seek validation that their efforts are thoughtful enough to remember, years later.
...and make gestures more meaningful
Wishbar taps into the need for a modern service that lets well-wishers share condolences, encouragement and care in an easy and personal way—while also fulfilling a family’s wishes and needs. In today's times, we need this more than ever.

As a former journalist, I've always been interested in the story of "human connections for good." I founded a PR consultancy to help companies engage and hire qualified workers with disabilities. I also ran an apartment rental business for Europeans visiting NYC (before Airbnb). Now I'm bringing sympathy-as-a-service to connect people on all sides of the sympathy and care ecosystem and again create transformative good.
